Fareway welcomes a new store manager

The Marion Fareway has a new store manager with decades of experience at other Fareway stores.
"After 13 years in Sheldon and with our boys in college [at Iowa State University], we were looking for something different," said Brent Kraft, the new manager at the Fareway in Marion. "We wanted to get back to a bigger city. We're excited to be here and to have the opportunity to choose where to move."
Kraft was raised in Estherville, but his wife grew up in the Des Moines area and has missed the amenities a larger community offers.
Kraft has worked for Fareway for a total of 27 years, and is a good fit for the Marion store, which is going through a remodel right now. He had already been through the remodeling process so coming in the middle of that here was easy for him.
"Most of the work had already been done for me," he said. The store chain is upgrading their stores throughout Iowa.
Still in Sheldon until their house sells, Kraft's wife runs an in-home childcare business, but is thinking about a career change when she arrives in Marion. She's not sure yet what she might look for, and is considering her options.
Both Kraft and his wife are graduates of ISU. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in early childhood development.
In his spare time, Kraft enjoys golfing, riding his Harley motorcycle and spending time with his family.
