Art by Your Friends and Neighbors Exhibit
by Report Submitted · February 20th, 2020
The nineteenth annual Art by Your Friends and Neighbors art show will open on Wednesday, March 19, at the Marion Heritage Center. This year's exhibit will feature over 60 works of art by area artists, most of them Marion residents. Included will be drawings and photography, ceramics, watercolor, oil and pastel renderings.
In announcing the event, Exhibit Chairman Jay Kacena said "Not only are there a lot of talented people in our town, there is a strong interest by others who enjoy seeing what they can do." This observation is supported by the fact that last year's event attracted over 700 visitors.
Many of the works will be offered for sale.
A special display, dubbed "Repeat, Repeat and Repeat," features six interpretations of the same subject, painted by six different members of the Creative Artists Group along with the photograph on which the work is based.
As in the past, opening day admittance to the exhibit will be FREE due to the sponsorship of Hills Bank and Trust Company. Visitors will be invited to vote for their favorite entry and cash prizes will be awarded for the three most popular artists when the show closes on Saturday, May 30.
The Marion Heritage Center is located at 590 10th Street in Marion. Regular museum hours are 1 to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.
