Robins Civic Club Scholarship winners

The Robins Civic Club Scholarship Selection Committee has named Casey Cerveny, Caitlin Kramer, and Ellie McDermott as its 2018 scholarship recipients. Each will receive a $500 award sent to their chosen college.

Casey Cerveny, a senior at Linn-Mar High School, was selected for National Honor Society, Iowa All-State Chorus, an Iowa H.S. Musical Theater Award, a Marching Band Drum Major, and Thespian Society Vice-President. He has been involved in Contest Speech, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Show Choir, and Theater. Cerveny has challenged himself by taking multiple advanced placement courses and earning Academic Letters with Distinction each year.

Cerveny has shared his musical talents to positively affect others and volunteered through his church, school, and with the Salvation Army. He is the son of Mike and Buffy Cerveny and plans to attend Drake University, majoring in Vocal Performance.

Caitlin Kramer, a senior at Xavier High School, was selected for National Council on Youth Leadership, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and as Xavier Newspaper's Sports Editor. She has been an Xavier Ambassador, a Senior Mentor, Key Club member, and three Xavier team sport athlete. Along with achieving Distinguished Honor Roll each year, Kramer has taken numerous advanced placement courses to accelerate her studies.

Kramer has performed service work through Key Club, volunteered with the City of Robins' parks, and through Catholic Heart Work Camps. The daughter of Jeff and Lynn Kramer, Caitlin plans to attend Drake University in Pre-Pharmacy.

Ellie McDermott, also a senior at Xavier High School, was selected as a Kairos retreat leader, Xavier Newspaper's Feature Editor, and 2nd team All-Metro/All-Conference in volleyball. She has been an Xavier Ambassador, a yearbook staff member, and has been active in Key Club, Spanish Club, and Running Club. McDermott has completed advanced placement and college preparatory classes while maintaining High or Distinguished Honor Roll each year.

McDermott has been a tutor at Xavier and volunteered through Key Club as well as her church. She is the daughter of Scott and Jill McDermott and plans to attend the University of Iowa to study Marketing and Graphic Design.

The Robins Civic Club would like to thank the Scholarship Selection Committee and congratulate these students as excellent examples of outstanding student citizens.
