Peter Pascal He says he knows the new hit HBO show, “The Last of Us,” is being compared to another ‘Us’ series…to which he replies, take it to the writers.
We caught up with the TV star on Friday at VeeHo, where he signed autographs and sauntered off. Before he did, BB broke it off with us a little bit … and we asked him, why does ‘LOU’ keep introducing great characters we love, only to kill them off immediately?
If that kind of gut-wrenching TV sounds familiar, it’s … AKA, NBC’s “This Is Us,” which is a real tearjerker and tends to write characters in a moment.
Pedro says he thinks viewers feel the pain of briefly meeting/losing screen celebrities like Bill and Frank (RIP), Tess (also RIP) and, most recently, Riley (maybe RIP?). He doesn’t really explain why…but maybe he knows, it’s good TV.
When we pressed a little more, he shrugged and said…hey, I’m just pretending. In other words, the quick characters thing isn’t his calling — it’s honest.
Our photo touches on another theme that will be brought up again and again throughout this first season…namely, LGBTQ+ representation. Some of the names mentioned above really lend themselves to it, and Pedro says … yes, it’s important.
He doesn’t spoon-feed the question of why…he thinks we already know.
