Lions edged by East, Jefferson
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · February 8th, 2018

The Linn-Mar boys basketball team has found itself on the wrong side of a three-game streak, dropping their last three road tilts including a two-point loss to Waterloo East and a one-point loss to Cedar Rapids Jefferson last week. The losses have now dropped the Lions to 8-9 on the season.

In the 70-68 loss to East, Trey Hutcheson did all he could and then some, finishing with 29 points and 14 rebounds in the losing effort. Greg Hall came off the bench and tallied 17 points but it wasn't enough to mount a fourth-quarter comeback win.

Hutcheson had another big game in the loss to the J-Hawks with 22 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks. He was the only Lion to score in double figures.

Things don't get any easier this week for the Lions as they host Iowa City West and Cedar Rapids Xavier. West is currently the top-ranked team in Class 4A while the Saints are the third-ranked team in Class 3A.
