Bobcats edge Marion
by Brandon Leonard Correspondent · January 11th, 2018

The Marion boys' basketball team had the opportunity to get back above .500 with a Friday night match-up against the Western Dubuque Bobcats. When the dust settled, the Indians fell to 1-4 on the road, 4-4 in WaMaC play and 4-5 overall. The Indians lost by a final score of 63-56 to Western Dubuque.

Marion had a balanced attack with scoring as Matthew Brase finished with a team-best 14, points while Trevor Paulsen and Chase Zielke contributed with 13 points apiece. Paulsen also led the team with five rebounds, five assists, five steals and a block, but it wasn't enough to get the victory. Western Dubuque's Alec Wulfkuhle led all scorers with 16 points.

A big week lies ahead for the Indians as they prep to do battle with South Tama, Clear Creek-Amana, and Cedar Rapids Jefferson.
