Ben Delagardelle cracked the Prairie end zone twice, but it wasn't enough to help the Linn-Mar football team pick up a win last Friday evening in Marion. The Hawks cruised by the Lions by a 43-19 final tally on a night that featured severe weather threats for most of the night, causing the game to be delayed by the threat of lightning at one point.

Neither the wet conditions nor the Linn-Mar defense could stop Prairie senior Keegan Simmons, who ran for 165 yards and four touchdowns.

The Lions added a pair of two-point conversions after the Delagardelle touchdowns and also had a 31-yard field goal drilled through by Austin Cochrane.

The loss drops Linn-Mar's record to 1-6 overall and 1-2 in district play. Things don't get any easier for the Lions this week as they travel to Iowa City to take on Class 4A's second-ranked team Iowa City West.
