Speech club helps boost confidence
by Gary Follmann · November 25th, 2015

Do you want to become a confident public speaker and strong leader? If so, Toastmasters is the place for you. You'll find a supportive "learn-by-doing" environment that allows you to achieve your goals at your own pace.

Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Their membership is more than 332,000.

These "masters" improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 15,400 clubs in 135 countries that make up a global network of meeting locations.

The world needs leaders. Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These pacesetters must not only accomplish, they must communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, confident conductors emerge from the Toastmasters program.

Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their path of exploration, participants learn to tell their own stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback-and accept it. Through a community of learners, they find their path to leadership.

Toastmasters has and shares values of integrity, respect, service, and excellence.

There are 22 clubs in the corridor area. The Sunrise Marion group is one of them. Sunrise Marion meets every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at Antioch Christian Church.
